gift guide no. 3: worth the splurge

gift_guide_splurge.jpg

whether it's to spoil someone special or just for yourself, these pieces are pricey but worth it in my opinion. i try to invest in classics with a modern sensibility and knowing that i'll wear or use them forever (and typically, on the daily) lessens the sticker shock.

KULE "the ship" cashmere sweater: it's no secret that i adore KULE striped tees and shirts. the quality, design, and colorways are spot-on and each style is something i wear year-round (especially the heavier weight cotton boyfriend style). their sweater collection is no different and i want them all!

CHANEL LE VERNIS long wear nail colour in espadrilles: if there's a red nail polish to end all red nail polish debates, it's chanel's espadrilles. the formula's consistency and saturation is top notch, the color is just right, and the chips are infrequent. to me, it's the only polish i need.

LE LABO's santal no. 26 candle: even though i adore diptyque candles, my current obsession is le labo's santal no. 26. the scent is intoxicating and it lasts a good while. there's something completely addicting about it!

GUCCI princetown mule loafer in black: with their current cult-like popularity, this classic loafer  has been around forever and made gucci's horsebit rather iconic.  i love the slides because they feel casual and cool, while still retaining a polished look.

MANSUR GAVRIEL mini mini bucket bag: while i'm not one to obsess over or covet designer "it" bags of the moment, i really appreciate the design, functionality, and unassuming quality of mansur's bucket bag. in the spring, i finally caved and bought this canvas and leather style and now want it in every color. the size is also perfect. it fits everything but still remains compact.

SLEEPY JONES pajamas: i'm definitely someone that likes to sleep (and lounge) in a classic pajama set, and even a proper robe sometimes! sleepy jones does a fantastic job of perfecting the art of pj's (i'd expect nothing less from andy spade, who concepted the brand). the cotton is super soft and the styling details and fabrications are cute enough to wear out of the house.

DIOR 'so real' sunglasses: i just love these so much. i can't really justify the price at all (besides the fact that i live in sunglasses year round) but i definitely appreciate the design...sigh!

if you read my first post on our trip to bermuda, you know that i instantly fell in love with the island's colorful architecture, friendly locals, and natural wonders. on our first full day of exploration, mackenzie, grayson, and i visited horseshoe bay which is quite possibly the most beautiful place i've been to in my life.

i picked up this english sports shop crest sweater the day prior so, naturally, that's what i wore paired with my favorite levi's 501s. while the crewneck isn't available online, i found this and this that are super similar (and truly vintage). if you're looking for that candy pink shade, i also love this sweater.

in september, i had picked up these metallic tasseled sandals and thought i'd have to wait until summer to sport them...not the case! they made for the perfect laid back yet chic shoe to slip on and off at the beach. loeffler has some i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-e shoes (resort ready!) out right now. i've been eyeing these after seeing mackenzie in them!

my favorite part of our time in bermuda was hands down horseshoe bay. the crystal clear waters and soft pink sands alone made the trip! we also climbed some of the rock formations making for the most excellent aerial views of the cove.

gift guide no. 2: soirée ready

if there's one time of year to really step up your glam, i'd say it's during the holiday season. i'm personally notorious for scrambling to find something chic and formal since i essentially live in casual jeans and simple shirts. i love giving statement earrings, a new bold lipstick, or a glittery nail polish to my girlfriends in anticipation of those party and new year's eve invites.

while this epic sequin pencil skirt might not be something you'd gift to others....it's definitely something  to treat yourself to. i'd pair it with an ivory cashmere sweater, these velvet knot pumps, and a classic yet color-blocked stole. also, can we talk about this bow clutch? too good!

bermuda in photos

right before thanksgiving, my friend and favorite travel mate mackenzie, her talented bro grayson, and i took a long weekend in bermuda. truthfully, i could not wait to go and the beauty of this colorful, remote island surpassed all of my expectations. we were told the weather wouldn't be exactly beach-bathing suitable in november but i was pleasantly surprised that it was sunny and in the mid 70's every day! beyond pleasant, in my book.

just a two hour flight from new york, we landed on a saturday and stayed at the incredible hamilton princess property. the princess was out of this world, truly. besides the impeccable service and warm demeanor of the hotel staff, i loved that the hotel was right in bermuda's capital city, hamilton, yet felt so calming and relaxing. it was right on the water, with beautiful sunsets each night.

i personally loved learning about the island's history. in particular, we visited the oldest surviving and continually operated church in the western hemisphere, st. peter's in the town of st. george. i also was in awe of just how many churches there were, overall: i was later told that bermuda holds the record for most places of worship per capita in the world (189 on the island). i was keen to listen and chat with every cab driver we had; anyone that was willing to share a tidbit of information about their beloved home.

i'll be sharing more photos & experiences from hamilton princess in the coming weeks!

gift guide no. 1: get cozy

to me, there's nothing like giving (and getting!) cozy, bundle-up-worthy gifts during the holidays. i always end up with a suitcase full of cold-weather accessories for my mom, sister, and self. i can personally attest to these crowd pleasers: a lush lotion, classic pajamas, a fragrant candle, and a warm wool scarf

personally, i'm placing this ivory bouclé-knit (on sale!) on my own holiday wishlist. with an oversized cocoon-fit and just the right shade of winter-white, it's a sure thing.
